Desiree & Jay's Wedding at the Hilton at Woodcliff Lake
Desiree and Jay got married on an absolutely beautiful day in June. So lucky considering how finicky this weather has been lately. We started the day out at Jay's parents house. It was a little weird for me, seeing how I grew up in that neighborhood. We even cruised by my old house on the way over. My brother was one of the groomsmen, so it was also kinda weird for me trying to be serious with him busting my chops all day. Ah, brotherly love. Thankfully Jay did not bust my chops at all. He was kind and cooperative all day. You could tell he was excited to be getting married. Which was no surprise considering how awesome Desiree is.
When we showed up to Desiree's parent's house everyone was calm and sweet. Desiree's mom had the dress hung up in a window and laid out all the details for us, which we always love.
The priest at this wedding was an absolute riot. I don't think we've ever laughed so much in church before. It was a great day. And then... well... and then the bus broke down. Which you will hear me say time and time again, something always goes wrong at a wedding. It just does. Without fail. And Desiree and Jay remained calm and great through it. They didn't even hesitate to let us use the time waiting for another bus to take pictures outside the church and put smiles on their faces. Which is awesome, but really it's not normal. It's not normal to take something going wrong on this day that you spend so much time planning in stride. Breaking down and losing your temper is what's normal. It's what is expected. And when we have couples that don't break down and lose their minds when something goes wrong, it's a true testament to their character. And a true testament to how they are going to handle the road bumps that come up in their life together.
Jay asked me the next morning, (when I had decided to help myself to a breakfast I wasn't really sure or not if we were supposed to go in to, but decided I was just too hungry to care) how the wedding ranked for me, and I feel really bad now I barely gave him an answer. It ranked really freaking high on the awesome scale Jay. We had a blast. It was a treat to see you so happy. Congratulations Desiree and Jay! We wish you the best together!
