The Hemsley Family - Documentary Family Session
Hey blog readers, this is Ray here. A short while ago I put out a request for a volunteer family to photograph. Laurie was the first to respond and we scheduled the session. My goal was to try to document the every day life of a family. I wanted it to be as hands off as possible, I would be giving no direction or guidance, I just wanted to photograph what happened. I was guessing (and hoping) that I would be able to see and capture those little moments and interactions that make up family life. While Kim and I love doing the standard family portrait sessions that we will continue to do, I was looking to try a different spin on the family portrait session. Laurie, her husband Jim, their son Connor, and daughter Taylor gave me exactly what I was looking for. After about an hour or two everyone became very used to me being in their home with a camera and began to ignore me, which was exactly what I wanted.
Here is a small selection of the moments that I captured on that Saturday with the Hemsley Family. I have also shared more photos and wrote about my day with the family on another website you can check that out at the link below.
If your family or someone you know may be interested in having this style of photo session done please email me and I can give you more info about it. I hope you enjoy the photos and a big thanks go out to the Hemsley family for inviting me into their home and being such wonderful subjects to photograph. I really enjoyed the chance to get to know all of you.
